History: The Crab & Winkle is situated on the site of the oldest railway passenger service in the world, built in 1830 to carry passengers and goods between Whitstable and nearby Canterbury. It was named the Crab & Winkle line after some of the cargo it transported. Amazingly, Whitstable Oysters have been exported all over the world since Roman Times!
